What Should be Included in a Cover Letter
During the submission process, authors may include a cover letter with comments for the Editor. Providing a cover letter is optional, although strongly advised as a way to share important information with the Editor and journal staff to efficiently process your manuscript. This page details what information is typically included in a standard cover letter.
How to Submit
an Article
To submit your paper, create a user account as author and submit the paper in the author section of your user homepage. Note that the references can be in any format, as long as the in-text citations are sequentially numbered in the manuscript with square brackets and as long as the reference at the end has a PMID in the format PMID:123456.
Article Types Published by JMIR Publications
Virtually all JMIR Publications journals publish Original Papers, Short Papers, Research Letters, Tutorials, Viewpoints, Commentaries, Editorials, Reviews, and Corrigenda and Addenda. Special article types only accepted by specific JMIR Publications journals. This page provides full definitions and instructions for each article type.
Tips on Writing
an Article Title
To enhance discoverability and citability, JMIR Publications requires a specific format for its article titles which all authors must follow. All article titles should fit within a 280-character limit (including spaces), should be descriptive of the subject of the research, should not reveal the results of the study, should attempt to be concise, and should be understandable to those outside the field.
